Successful Meeting

Today started early for me. A few of us left the mission house because our internet had been down and it looked like it was a permanent thing, so we drove to a local coffee shop at 8 this morning to send out updates to our prayer teams. after spending a couple of hours at the coffee shop getting caught up on all of our internet "needs" (it's amazing / distrubing how dependent upon internet access we are!), we headed back to the house to take care of the rest of the items on the agenda. We started out with working on getting our internet access fixed, getting a printer/scanner/fax machine, and working on getting our visas. from there, Mike and I had the meeting that didn't end up happening yesterday. We met with Doctor Galela, who is the regional superintendent of this area. We talked with him for a while about the youth rallies and what they would need to look like and how he envisioned something like that going. his insight was helpful because it was clear that we were all on the same page and it was also helpful because he is an incredibly wise and godly man and his affirmation was something that put all of us at ease. Having him behind us in this endeavor will make a difference in getting us more connections and helping to pave the way to get things going smoothly. This meeting was encouraging to me and i walked away extremely grateful for the insights gained and the friendship deepened.

Getting Started

6-24-07
Today, I slept in until 2pm because I was so exhausted from not getting much sleep during our travel time. I was absolutely spent and when I got out of bed, I felt like I could have rolled back over and gone back to sleep. Later, in the evening, we spent time together as a team worshiping God. We prayed, sang, read Scripture, and took time to thank God for His provision and protection thus far. We took time to acknowledge that the task before us was far too big for us to accomplish on our own. We spent time asking God to work through us to complete all that He had in store for us. We closed this time with a prayer that God would be glorified above all. That is the desire of our team, to see God receive the honor and glory for everything that He accomplishes through us.

This week, we are going to take things slow and take our time getting acclimated to our new environment. We spent today out shopping for things that we need around the house. We got cell phones, a bed, alarm clocks, and things like that. We are also taking this time to get adjusted to the time difference and all of the cultural changes.
Mike and I had a meeting that was tentatively planned to take place today, but everyone got too busy, so we will have to reschedule it for probably sometime later this week.

due to the internet in our home going out, i am typing this up at a coffee shop and i don't know when the next update will be...hopefully soon, but i'm not sure

We're Here

After a 7 hour flight from Chicago to London, a 12 hour layover in London, and a 10 hour flight from London to Johannesburg, we have arrived. We got here yesterday, but have been taking it easy and working on catching up on our rest after traveling for so long. Thank you to everyone praying for our safety and the ministry that we will soon be beginning. I'll update here pretty regularly if possible, so check back often.
